PC BUILDING SIMULATOR

A game with an original idea that stays in  0.x early access  only because some features are copyrighted by some greedy corporations. It does what it says on the tin, and  truly delivers, but any feature having to do with software or hardware giants that won't give pemission for their products (ex. Microsoft and running bios or diagnostics on your simulation) is unavailable.

You can either  play in free mode, combining available  components in building a dream machine of your own (using components and software by companies that allowed the use of their designs here) or career mode , juggling services and prices proposed by the clients. This game is doing a tremendous service to all of us with no previous experience in making a PC that works and shines light on the once thriving enthusiast computing culture of the Xers that is now coming into focus again with micro computers and open software. I understand the need of those in charge to keep the majority of the population mere consumers instead of inspiring them to become builders, but sometimes copyright and intellectual property claims are downright ridiculous.

The creator of this game might have made greater use of  for a more interesting background music from a wealth of  CreativeCommons-licenced tracks out there, and putting a $20 price tag on this title is a tad excessive. Still, PC BULDING SIMULATOR remains a true  gaming breakthrough bringing another successful blend of gaming and life.

MINI METRO

The other day I watched an episode of The Orville  which dealt with discovering a 2-dimensional civilization and thought the colourful lines of movements of its beings and objects  were remindful of old metro scheme designs and vehicle pathways of Tron and that it would great if such designs were used more frequently in gaming. Minutes into my on-line quasi-research and I come upon Mini Metro. What a great example of an exciting real-life job simulation carved into a slick game! Subway and train outlines have been part of gaming since its infancy, but this title gives you an actual opportunity to see the results of your construction engineering efforts seconds after you've built, reinvented, upgraded or altered the lines. The city (one in 10 actual cities you can pick) and its population gets bigger and so does the number of stations  you need to connect with subway lines and thus keep make things run as smoothly as possible,

Mini Metro is visually pleasing and fun and easy to play and has a decent replay value and cute music. It also has that Je ne sais quoi  quality about it that makes it both charming and ground-breaking at the same time. Could it be the compelling nature of fighting entropy on any scale and within any given system the thing that makes Mini Metro a great game? Or is it simply the combination of casual gameplay and deep tactics? Try this instant classic, you won't be disappointed.

ENVIRO-BEAR 2000: OPERATION: HIBERNATION

Messy games are the best , and this is truly one of the messiest ones out there. Messy as in sketchy  and swiftly built, a far cry from being an eye candy. The navigation is  simple and awkward and done by moving and clicking a single mouse button, the in-game music is obnoxious and made in a matter of minutes. Almost every aspect of this game seems unappealing . Despite this, ENVIRO-BEAR 2000 possesses some je-ne-sais-quoi that keeps you tied to your seat for at least a while. That is, if you're open to a game like this to begin with.

Having awaken a bit too far in the autumn, you now have to prepare for the upcoming winter by eating fish and berries. And what better way to do this  more efficiently and swiftly than to take someone's car and go through the reserve in trying to have enough food stuck to your windshield,  avoiding other cars driven by other bears and dealing with badgers and other animal friends that miraculously end in your car . If you fail to gather enough food and drive your car into your cave before the snow starts to fall the game's over. Sounds a lot dumber than  it's supposed to, but the game is loads of fun. The concept of using clumsiness of movement pays off and makes this a delightful play.

as user i_am_sad once said in a reddit comment : "Enviro-Bear 2000 is more fun than should be allowed for a game as stupid as this."
